Talk about political flip-flops. Once known for his love of barbecue and impromptu stops at McDonald's, amongst other things, former President Bill Clinton has radically changed his diet, significantly reduced his weight and is immensely proud to have improved his health.
All this began when he had to receive a life-saving quadruple heart bypass. The former junk food loving President, who turned 65 recently, now refers to himself as a vegan, and now eats no meat, eggs, dairy, and very little in the way of oils.
"I like the vegetables, the fruits, the beans, the stuff I eat now," Clinton told CNN. After experiencing periodic heart problems leading up to the 2004 surgery, Clinton has now lost 20 lbs. and says, "I feel good, and I also have … more energy."
Well, if Bill Clinton can do it, with what is undoubtedly a chaotic and unpredictable lifestyle, venturing hither and thither on a regular basis, I'm sure that many more people can both change their diet and reap the undoubted benefits. I'm sure that Clinton takes full advantage of shortcuts, with pre-prepared food accompanying him. Wouldn't I just love it if I found he was drinking our
wheatgrass juice or
broccoli sprout juices! I don't think that's very likely. However, if he finds himself in Ireland again, maybe he would like to take a trip to the place where it is produced! If that's not possible, he can do like lots of other people and set up a
standing order to have it delivered! Simple.
If you're doing the right things for your body, you will feel better, you will feel happier with yourself, and you will have more energy. The more you compromise our delicately balanced and intricate mechanisms, the harder it will be for them to function the way that we all want them to work, so that we are healthy and energetic, for a long life without years/decades of degradation at the end.
