A friend who I respect enormously has recently had to admit defeat by the authoritarian nature of the new health laws dictating what one cannot, and occasionally can say about products, about approaches to health and much more.

At the foundation of all body functions, enzymes are essential activators of chemical reactions that are continually taking place within your body. They are specific catalysts that join with coenzymes (principally vitamins and minerals) to be used by your body to carry out its every exchange.

In the very beginning, the very first people on this planet began life with a healthy set of genes, and followed a healthy diet. They did this without the use of cookbooks, or advisory services! This is the same as the entire wild world, who instinctively know what is good for them, and haven’t been persuaded otherwise.

I just love hearing people ring up and tell me wonderful stories of how wheatgrass juice that we’ve supplied has helped them. Naturally, in line with legislative obligations, you wouldn’t expect me to suggest that just because somebody has had a wonderful experience that it will be in any way replicable. Even if that were to happen several times. We are not allowed to say that anything that happens once is worth a row of beans. Or a sachet of wheatgrass or broccoli sprout juice!

I recently saw a tweet from somebody who runs a juice bar, where they major in selling and promoting wheatgrass juice. This is what he said. “This is the one time each year when wheatgrass grown as nature intended reaches its nutritional peak”.

As I’m also a farmer who grows wheat, I know what he means, but he’s wrong!

I was reading the latest missive from Karen Knowler, on Friday night. In it she talks about how easy or difficult it is to transition to a diet comprised of anything up to 100% raw ingredients. Naturally, for most people, achieving 100% target is very difficult, especially in the UK in the winter. It requires a special sort of determination to get to that level. It also requires a reasonably strong willed person in order to defend against the cynical comments one is invariably going to hear. If I even mention the subject the whole panoply is unleashed!

There is an interesting article in BBC News Magazine on the rise in popularity with sports enthusiasts (professional and amateur) of protein drinks. http://bbc.in/15NaepL

Why not wheatgrass juice? It has similar protein to many of them at c.3% - which is why it's classified a food, which Tonic Attack established in a VAT tribunal to ensure it is VAT-free (as food).HMRC lost their cynical attempt to claw money out of health conscious consumers on that occasion.

According to researchers at Johns Hopkins University, just 5g of broccoli sprouts contain concentrations of the compound glucorphanin equal to that found in 150g of mature broccoli1. Whoah, imagine, 30 times the concentration!!!
